Shopify integration

Overview

Connect your Shopify store so two separate assistants can retrieve products, prices, availability, order details, payment and fulfillment status, and tracking information.

  • The customer assistant answers product questions in your website chat. Customers must verify access before it retrieves their orders.
  • The staff assistant lets explicitly authorized team members search store orders in a private chat while signed into AtomicX.

This integration only reads information. It cannot change orders, issue refunds, cancel purchases or update stock. Each AtomicX account connects to one Shopify store.

Before you start

You need the Owner or Admin role to connect the store and manage staff access. Your platform administrator must first configure the Shopify app and its sign-in return addresses. Ask them to confirm that email delivery is configured if you want guest order verification. App secrets are not entered in chat.

For customer account sign-in, you also need a Shopify Customer Account API client ID configured for your store. Guest order verification is a separate option and uses the email address recorded on the order.

Steps

Connect and test your store

  1. Go to Integrations → Integrations and open the Shopify card, or open Shopify settings.
  2. Under Store connection, enter your Shopify store hostname, such as your-store.myshopify.com.
  3. Click Connect Shopify and complete the authorization in Shopify.
  4. Back in AtomicX, click Test connection. Check the Products, Orders and Older orders capabilities. A saved connection does not mean every capability is available.
  5. To enable customer account sign-in, enter the Shopify customer account client ID and click Configure customer login. Check that Customer login shows Available.

Older orders may require additional access arranged by your platform administrator. If a capability is Not available, resolve it before relying on that type of retrieval.

Set up the two agents

  1. Under Two separate assistants, click Create or open agent drafts.
  2. Open Edit customer agent and Edit staff agent. Review their instructions and skills, then save and publish both agents under AI → AI agents. Repeating draft setup preserves existing agent edits.
  3. Use the customer agent for your public chat. If your workflow selects an agent in its AI Chat node, select the customer agent there. See AI agents.
  4. Keep the staff agent for the private staff chat. It cannot be assigned to a public widget.
  5. Under Staff access, enable the active team members who should retrieve store-wide orders. Even Owners and Admins need this explicit permission to use the staff assistant.

Test the customer and staff experiences

  • Ask the website chat about a product. Customer results include products published to the online store. Cards can include an image, a product link and a From price in the store's currency; a specific variant may cost more.
  • Ask about an order and use Verify order access below the chat. Test both customer sign-in, if configured, and an emailed guest code. See Verify Shopify order access.
  • As an enabled team member, open the private staff chat and ask about an order. See Shopify staff chat.

Disconnect or change stores

Click Disconnect in Shopify settings to stop retrieval and clear existing customer order access. Reconnecting requires customers to verify again. If you connect a different store, configure customer login for that store again.

Troubleshooting

  • App not configured or connection fails: ask your platform administrator to check the Shopify app registration and return addresses, then reconnect.
  • Products or orders unavailable: run Test connection and check the corresponding capability. Customer product results also require online-store publication.
  • No tracking shown: tracking appears only when Shopify supplies it. Payment status and fulfillment status are separate; a paid order is not necessarily shipped.
  • An order is missing: check the selected store, the customer's verified access and the Older orders capability. Signed-in customers see up to ten recent orders per listing; guest verification covers only the verified order.
  • Prices differ from checkout: displayed product prices use the store currency and do not calculate localized checkout pricing.
