Plans and subscription
Overview
Your AtomicX Chat subscription plan decides which features you can use and how much you can do with them. Plans differ in things like:
- Features. For example AI answers and knowledge bases, integrations, and calendar booking.
- Limits. For example the number of users, workflows, and knowledge bases, and storage. AI plans include a number of AI credits each month; other plans have a monthly conversation limit.
- AI models. Agents can use the Regular model or the Premium model; the regular model is the default. Agents set to a model that isn't available run on the default model until you change them. See AI agents.
Current plans and prices are always on the public pricing page. You can pay monthly or yearly. Monthly plans renew on the 1st of each month: your first payment covers only the days from today to the 1st of next month, at that share of the monthly price, and then you pay the full price on the 1st. Yearly plans renew one year from the day you subscribe. When yearly billing costs less than twelve monthly payments, the saving is shown as you choose. Prices exclude VAT: EU customers pay VAT on top (see Payments, invoices and account suspension).
Free trials. Some plans include a free trial, shown as "N-day free trial" on the pricing page. You enter your card when you sign up, but you aren't charged until the trial ends. Cancel before then and you pay nothing. See Cancel your subscription.
Discount codes. If you have a discount code, enter it when you sign up. Codes are for new customers only and can't be added to an existing account.
30-day money-back guarantee. If you cancel within 30 days of your first payment, you can ask for a full refund. See Cancel your subscription.
AI plans show their monthly AI credits and roughly how many conversations those credits cover, for example "19,000 AI credits/month · ≈ 3,800 conversations/month". The number of conversations is an estimate based on the average across all AtomicX Chat customers; yours depends on how long your conversations are and whether your agents use the regular or premium model. Once an AI plan has monthly AI credits, it has no separate conversation limit; until then the plan's monthly conversation limit applies. See AI credits.
Steps
Choose a plan and sign up
- Open the pricing page and review the plans.
- Click Start for Free (plans with a free trial) or Get started on the plan you want.
- On Configure Your Plan, review What's included, then under Choose Your Billing Frequency, pick Monthly or Yearly. Plans without a yearly price only offer Monthly.
- Click Continue to Checkout.
- On Complete Your Order, check the Order Summary, then fill in:
- Company Information: Company Name, Company Identifier, an optional Website, and an optional Company Description.
- Account Owner Information: First Name, Last Name, Email Address, an optional Phone Number, Password, and Confirm Password.
- Optionally, enter a Discount code in the Order Summary and click Apply. Due today shows what you'll be charged now: the subtotal after any discount, the VAT if it applies, and the total. On a plan with a free trial, Due today is 0.
- Agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, then click Proceed to Payment and complete payment. On a free trial, the secure Stripe page only saves your card. Your details are checked first, so a taken company identifier or email address is flagged before you're charged.
- On Payment Successful! (or You're all set! when nothing was charged), review your order details, then open the confirmation email we sent you and click its link to activate your account. See Sign up and activate your account.
The person who signs up becomes the account Owner. You can then invite your team. See Managing team members.
See what your plan includes
- Sidebar sections. Sections like AI, Integrations, and Calendar only appear when your plan includes them.
- Locked features. If you open a feature your plan doesn't include, you'll see Feature Not Available, along with a note that it isn't part of your current plan.
- Limits. When you reach a limit, you'll see a message when you try to add more. For example, you'll be asked to upgrade your plan to create more workflows. See What happens at each limit below.
- Usage. Owners and Admins can open Plan & billing in the sidebar. The Usage block shows Users, Knowledge bases, Websites, Storage, and AI credits this month (AI plans with monthly credits) or Conversations this month (other plans) against your plan, with a bar that turns amber at 80% and red at the limit. Limits your plan doesn't cap show Unlimited.
- Plan details. Account Owners can click Plan & limits in the sidebar to open the Plan & limits page. The Plan & limits section shows your plan name and your limits (Users, Workflows, Knowledge bases, Conversations / month, and Storage), and when your subscription expires. The page is view-only apart from Time zone under Organization information (see Set your time zone), and only Owners see it in the sidebar.
What happens at each limit
Limits are checked whenever something is added, whether you add it in the Admin console or it's added for you, so they always match your plan.
- Users. Everyone on Team Members who is Active or Invited uses a seat. Inactive members don't. When every seat is used, Send Invite shows "Your plan includes N users. Upgrade your plan to add more." Owners also get an Upgrade your plan link to Plan & billing. Setting an Inactive member back to Active needs a free seat too.
- Workflows. Creating a workflow past your plan's number asks you to upgrade your plan.
- Knowledge bases. Deleted knowledge bases don't count. Clicking Create when you've reached the limit shows "Your plan includes N knowledge bases. Upgrade your plan to add more." If your plan has no knowledge bases, the message says so.
- Websites. Every website on the Websites tab of every knowledge base counts. When you've reached the limit, Add Website shows "Your plan includes N websites. Upgrade your plan to add more." Delete a website you no longer need to free a place.
- Storage. Storage is the total size of the documents uploaded to your knowledge bases. Content read from websites and email sources doesn't count. An upload that would go over shows "This upload would go over your plan's storage" with how much you've used, and the file isn't added. Delete documents or upgrade your plan to make room.
- AI credits (AI plans). When this month's plan credits and any purchased credits are used up, the AI stops answering and new chats are handed to your team, with the same message for the visitor as below. Buy credits or turn on auto-buy to avoid this. See AI credits.
- Monthly conversations (plans without AI, and AI plans without monthly credits). Every new chat counts, from the widget, Slack, SMS, and WhatsApp. The count starts again on the 1st of each month (UTC). Once this month's conversations are used up, chats still start, but the AI doesn't answer new ones. Instead each new chat is handed to your team, so it shows in Live monitor and the AtomicX mobile app as needing a person. The visitor sees "Thanks for your message — someone from our team will get back to you." Conversations that started before you reached the limit keep their AI answers. Owners and Admins get one email the first time it happens each month.
- AI. If your plan doesn't include AI, the AI doesn't answer visitors. When a chat reaches an AI step, it's handed to your team in the same way, with the same message for the visitor. Other AI work for your account, such as processing knowledge base content, doesn't run either.
Change your plan
Owners and admins change plans on the Plan & billing page (click Plan & billing in the sidebar).
- Under Change plan, pick Monthly or Yearly.
- On the plan you want, click Switch & pay.
- Review Confirm plan change. It shows the new plan's price, the Credit for unused time on your current plan, and the amount Due today. EU customers also see the Subtotal and the VAT added to it, or the reverse-charge note.
- Click Continue to payment and pay on the secure checkout page. If your credit covers the whole price, the button says Confirm change and nothing is charged.
The new plan starts right away, and a new billing period starts today. On monthly billing it runs to the 1st of next month, so the price is for the days left this month; after that you pay the full price on the 1st. On yearly billing your next renewal is one year from today. Changing to a paid plan during a free trial ends the trial and charges you today. It also undoes a cancellation.
How the credit works. You get back the part of your current period you haven't used yet. The credit is what you paid for the current period before VAT, times the share of the period that's left. For example, if you paid $30 for a 30-day month and switch after 10 days, the credit is $20. It's deducted from the new plan's price and shown on the new invoice. Any credit beyond the new plan's price is not refunded.
Switch to a free plan
On a free plan, click Switch to free and confirm. The change takes effect immediately: paid features and limits are removed, automatic payments stop, and the unused part of your current period is not refunded. You can't switch to a free plan while an invoice is unpaid.
To stop paying but keep your plan until the end of the period you've paid for, cancel your subscription instead. See Cancel your subscription.
Tips
- Not sure which plan fits? Start with the features you need now. You can move to a bigger plan later through support.
- Before you upgrade, check AI credits to see how many credits you actually use. If you only run short now and then, buying a credit pack may be cheaper than a bigger plan.
- If a teammate sees Feature Not Available, ask your account Owner to check whether an upgrade is needed.
- If visitors are being handed to your team because this month's conversations or AI credits are used up, keep Live monitor open or turn on notifications in the mobile app so nobody waits too long. See Live monitor and human handoff.
- If payment fails, you'll see Payment Verification Failed. Click Try Again to return to the pricing page, or contact support.
- If a renewal payment fails later on, your account becomes past due and is eventually suspended. See Payments, invoices and account suspension.
- Your price is fixed when you subscribe or change plan. Later changes to a plan's list price don't change what you pay.
- Plan & billing shows Monthly plans renew on the 1st under the next billing date. During a free trial the date is labelled Trial ends / first charge.
