MemberX overview and setup
Overview
MemberX turns AtomicX Chat into a digital concierge for a private club. Members text your club's phone number and the AI answers questions about the club, lists upcoming events, and takes RSVPs. Your staff manage members, events and text blasts in the Admin console.
MemberX is granted per account by AtomicX. When it's on, a MemberX section appears in the menu with Members, Events and Club information (everyone) plus SMS blasts and MemberX settings (Owners and Admins). If you don't see it, contact support.
How members are recognised: when a text arrives, AtomicX Chat matches the sender's mobile number against your Members list. Active members get personal answers and can RSVP. You can also choose to answer only members.
Steps
1. Choose your time zone
- Go to MemberX → MemberX settings.
- Under General, pick your Club time zone. Event times and blast schedules are entered and shown in this zone.
- Click Save settings.
2. Connect your club's phone number
- Go to Chat → Channels and click Add Channel.
- Choose Twilio SMS and enter your Twilio Account SID, Auth Token and Twilio phone number (for example
+14165550123). - Leave Set the number's webhook to AtomicX ticked so incoming texts reach AtomicX Chat, then click Connect.
See SMS and WhatsApp for details.
3. Give your agent the MemberX skills
- Go to AI → Agents and edit the agent used by your chat's workflow.
- Under Skills, add the MemberX skills:
- MemberX: list upcoming events
- MemberX: RSVP to an event
- MemberX: cancel an RSVP
- MemberX: member's RSVPs
- MemberX: look up club information
- Save the agent.
Without these skills the AI can still answer from your knowledge base, but it won't see your events or take RSVPs.
The MemberX skills only appear in the Skills list when your plan includes MemberX.
4. Decide who can text
- In MemberX → MemberX settings, under SMS, tick Members only if the number is just for members.
- Edit Reply to non-members. Anyone whose number isn't an active member gets this reply instead of the AI.
- Click Save settings.
Members can always text UNSUBSCRIBE or STOP to stop receiving SMS blasts.
5. Add your members and events
- Add or import members in MemberX → Members. See MemberX members and signups.
- Add events, or import them from your website, in MemberX → Events. See MemberX events and RSVPs.
Tips
- Put longer material (bylaws, menus, newsletters) in a knowledge base, and keep Club information for short facts such as parking, hours and dress code.
- A texting conversation starts fresh after 24 hours of silence, so old event lists aren't repeated weeks later.
- Test by texting your number from a phone listed on an active member.
